Finished Logan's twin quilt!
#1
I finished the binding last night and washed it this morning I'm so excited to put it on the bed and take pictures. Only problem is... some of my seams from the quilt top piecing came apart. Does this mean my seams were too scant? Should I make bigger seams next time? I had to go over them again with the machine and I doubt anyone else will see it but I know I always will :( Oh well... nothing I can do now but I would like to know what I did wrong for next time.
Oh and can I say how much I love Warm and Natural batting? I wish I could get it pre-packaged here in SC... it only comes on the roll so I have to get it cut everytime. It was so nice to walk into JoAnns and just grab a bag and go LOL But I really love the feel of the quilt with this batting I think I will always buy that from now on.
ETA: I used my new singer 201 to quilt it and it was so nice and easy! I have so much room now with the bigger throat space and I just love this machine so much. It's so heavy duty I'm not worried about going over seams and I don't have to worry about the computer screwing up or anything. It just wants to sew sew sew! Yay! I'm so glad I didn't spend $1000 on the viking I was looking at.

If the seams are coming apart, then the seam was too scant, as you thought, the fabric was very loosly woven and/or when you pieced that piece it was a bit small and you really stretched it trying to get it to fit where it was supposed to. This last thing will work up to a point as long as you quilt the heck out of it to keep it in place, otherwise it may revert to it's original shape and pull out.
Seams pulling out is not uncommon! You did the right thing just sewing it back in place. It will be fine. I would take a few minutes & figure out where the 1/4" seam is on your new 201!

Im in SC and Im pretty sure JoAnns and Hobby Lobby has pre-packaged W&N in Columbia. Also I just got my 201 back from the shop, got it off ebay last month and took it straight to the sewing center for service. The repair tech says I got a great deal so Im looking forward to trying it out.
Happy sewing !!!

I've had a couple quilts start to fall apart after a few washings. My seams are near perfect, finally. The only thing I can figure out is my lack of quilting.
In most cases, I cross hatch everything. These 2 quilts were put on my new sofa because of the dogs. They don't romp on the sofa but take a 50lb boxer that gets up there and walks in circles before laying down on 16" blocks with just a cross hatch-not good. So until I learn how to do FMQ, I'll echo quilt everything!

You can get Warm & Natural, also Warm & White in precut lengths for Queen size or King size from Hancocks of Paducah. I get mine when they have free shipping offers, (though they do limit you to two then).
