Fussy Cut-----i know this may sound stupid
#2
Fussy cutting refers to finding a specific motif in the fabric that you want to center.
So as opposed to using any 6" square, you position your ruler over the spot on the fabric that you want to showcase. You do waste more fabric this way.

It's OK. Believe me, as a quilter, I know what you mean about thinking that EVERY piece is fussy cut. Don't we line up the ruler just so and measure just so?
Look at the nine blocks in my avatar photo. All made from the same ONE fabric, plus the ivory background. I had to find special places to cut each piece.

I always told my students and employee's there is no stupid question. That being said, you cut out certain parts of the fabric. You may have a frog surrounded by little items and you only want the frog, for your design block.
Hope that helps. Marilu
