Going to the Chicago Quilt Show without a rental car...Advice
Hi quilting friends,
I am planning to attend the Chicago Quilt Show at the end of June. I will be flying into Midway airport. My tentative plan is to stay at a hotel near the O'Hare Airport and then get to the Convention Center where the quilt show is being held by public transportation. I also plan to do some sightseeing, also with public transportation.
How is the Chicago public transportation and can I stay in a hotel outside of the O'Hare airport vicinity and still get to the Convention center easily? I am trying to save some money and I am thinking about shopping Priceline or Hotwire and getting a hotel in an outlying area but I am just not familiar enough with the area.
Any recommendations? Thank you in advance

I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn around O'Hare and they had shuttles on call to and from the quilt show for free. The hotel was fabulous in being good to the ladies attending the show.
The red line is close by, and the hotel will also shuttle you to the station. I don't know about the bus, but this link should help and there is an app to download. http://www.transitchicago.com/

I can't answer any of the information about Chicago, but when I attended Long Beach I stayed further away for the same reason. I think it is worth a bit more to stay within walking distance and not have to worry about the parking etc of a car. Also, the time you spend traveling to/from is more time to spend at the show.
Just my two cents. Have a great time.

As mentioned by sarge1, the quilt show is in Rosemont.
Here is info about Rosemont, (maps, transportation, attractions, dining, etc.). http://www.rosemont.com/
Rosemont hotels are listed here, http://www.rosemont.com/portal_hotels.html
You can walk to the convention center from the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.

Have a really good time! When I've gone to Houston I take the shuttle to the hotel - I was lucky enough to find one within walking distance to the Convention Center. Use the hotel shuttle as much as you can - you will be able to get where you want to go.
