Got a new Iron from Home Depot........
#1
I have been wanting a new iron for quite some time but everything I have read has caused me to stay away from the expensive irons. This iron does not shut off automatically, it has a stainless steal bottom, has vertical and horizonal steam, has a decent size water holding compacity. And it was only $6.97. They one thing I'm I haven't figured out yet is how to shut it off, may have to just unplug each time. Anyway, I'm thinking for that price I could affort to have a dedicated quilting iron.
Just wanted to pass this great find on....:)
Hugs.

I wanted to stay with a heavier iron. Bought a Hamilton Beach - 1500 watts for quick heating but the dial in center under handle is awkward and it does shut off after a certain time but even when you turn the dial off the little lights tell you it is plugged in. I plan on plugging it to a power strip so I can just push a button instead of always pulling out plug. It is rather long in size. Bottom line it's OK but wished I had known of this site to get more information before buying.

Good for you Gail, I have one of those Rowenta, greaat in every way plus the nice pointed tip....However.....the darn thing leaks if water is added, so I too purchased B&D for much less $$$ and very pleased with it.

Not sure what brand you have, but I have a couple of Black & Decker irons and accidently discovered that the button that you click to change the setting, when pressed down and held for about 5 to 10 seconds shuts the iron off. Just a thought!
