You have a point about the upholstery thread. This is a large bag for my granddaughter to carry books for school. Dang it! I have every kind of thread except upholstery thread! Maybe I'll sew the seams twice...

You know what? I'm have a "duh" moment. The pattern called for upholstery thread but I couldn't see where she wanted me to use it. I read and read the pattern and no mention of using that thread! I bought some anyway but only a small spool. I'm guessing she wanted me to use the upholstery thread to sew it together--ya think?

Use the upholstery thread when making the body of the bag and make sure that you use it when you attach the handles. Unless the handles go completely around the bag, I attach them by sewing a square the size of the handle, then an "X" thru the square. The square is just shy of the width of the handle. Assume that she's going to load it up with books then grab it by one handle!
