I've used Guttermann with good results. I would think your bobbin thread should be the same weight, and I would use a color close to your variegated (maybe ivory or pale gold) so you don't have "polka dots" where you quilt.

Here is a link to your thread on Amazon.com. They say:
"Variegated Natural Cotton Thread. 100% mercerized natural cotton in fabulous variegated shades to coordinate with the solid range of natural cotton thread. This jumbo spool is perfect for bigger projects and can be used in hand and machine sewing projects. 876 yd spool."-They don't list the weight. I would assume it is a 50 wt. I don't think I would hand quilt with it unless I used beeswax. Good Luck

I have a Janome machine on a frame for quilting and a Viking for my tabletop piecing and I use Guterman thread for both. I use it for both top and bobbin. I clean the bobbin of lint after each bobbin change just to make sure it doesn't build up. I like it (and your quilt is gorgeous!!).
