Hello! This is my first posting of a question!!
I made a hanging sleeve for a wall hanging--hanging is about 20" by 50". I haven't sewed it on yet. One other wall hanging I have has a hanging sleeve and it get's in the way of the nails to hold it on the wall. I don't think one nail at each end will hold it without a droop in the middle--at least eventually--as the dowl warps??
Does it make sense to cut the sleeve in half--more each down a bit to leave room in the middle for another nail?
Help.

When we needed to hang the church quilt made for our 25th anniversary, I made a split sleeve--which was like 2 complete sleeves with space in the middle. We were unsure if the quilt would sag and didn't want to take a chance. We used pvc pipe and it did not sag much to everyone's relief! I wish we had gone with a piece of flat plexiglass instead though, because I don't like the hump in the back where the pvc pipe is.

Thanks ladies!! I've cut the sleeve into two pieces and will sew them on as soon as the binding is stitched to the back. This one if for my son's girlfriend--so I've instructed him on the purchasing of a dowl and how to hang it up for her.

Just a hint: I incorporated the top edge of the sleeve into the seam allowance for the binding. I made for a real storng seam at that point. Then all I had to do was slip stitch the binding down and slip stitch the bottom edge of the sleeve.
