Has anyone ever used the fabric on a comforter to make quilts?

Isn't that cotton fabric? I know Walmart sells them pretty cheap. It's what 5 - 6 yards on each side depending on what size you get?
The poly batting can be used to make body pillows or regular pillows, pet bed stuffing, toys etc.
I have two that I really like the colors of the fabric, don't use them much and would love to take them apart and resew into things like mug rugs, table runners for spring etc.

I was also thinking, with the price of cotton going up up and away, this may be a cheaper way of getting fabric for backings, etc.

I personally would not spend much time on this because it will depend on the ware it has had. Fabric has a life time limited to its use .I sure would limit my time to something quick.I had a bad experience with this and even though the fabric looked good it after 2 washings fell apart and my work was for nothing.
