Help choosing borders, please
I started Thursday night on the first maple leaf for the apartment's office door, and finished by Friday noon. Since all the fabric was still out and I like the leaf, I'm making one for me. Keep in mind that all these pics are a little washed out... just can't make them look the same as in person. The border on the first pic really sets it off. I wish I had more of it. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a fabric in my stash that I like as well. what do you think? the second pic is brown corners. The third pic shows a thin border the same color as the stem. The leafy fabric is really a darker yellow with orange printing. I sort of like that because it has maple leaves in it. The burnt orange is a better color, but is a little too modern. Isn't it horrible to try to find something to replace something you like LOL?

Oh that black fabric with the botanical elements is so beautiful and it really frames the leaf and makes it absolutely sparkle so my vote is for setting it on point with that fabric. Once the block is set in that fabric you can frame it with another border if you need it to be a little bigger. Oops just reread you post and it sounds like your intent is to frame it again in that goldy colored leaf print. I think that would look great.

I like everything about that 2nd fabric, the tones and the change in scale from the prints in the leaf all work well together. I think it works well with the background leaves as well, those light highlights in the dark print just grabs everything and makes it play nicely.

It looks much better set on point. Having a hard time telling which fabric I like best because of the different way you set them. I may like the first one if it was set on point. Where did you get the maple leaf pattern? Can you pm me with it. I made a table runner a few years ago with maple leaves but like yours better.
