Thank you all for your wonderful ideas it looks like it's going to take me a while to try out all the advice you've been so kind to give me. The quilt is for my unmarried son, I asked his favorite color & to my shock it wasn't red but "Crimson" lol. Thanks too for the compliments they mean a lot to a newbie and I'm so excited I made it on The Quilting Board! I will post pictures when I finally decide what to do, in the mean time I have started cutting out a lap quilt kit for my DH, I won't be doing anymore "kits" until I am more confident in my cutting skills, after a couple of wrong measurement cuttings I was lucky there was enough fabric that I was able to get the right amount of cuts whew.

Color really is so personal....I can't imagine myself putting red and purple together and so many of you suggested it! To me they just don't "go"! Obviously this is a situation where there is no "right" answer, it "just depends"!
If it were MY quilt, I would probably go for a soft lavender. But now I'm super curious to see what red would look like. Maybe I've been missing out on a great color combination all these years!
I will be watching to see what you do with this...I like your blocks, they look very precise! I'm sure it's going to turn out GREAT.
