I need help from you wonderful quilters, we are on vacation and I did bring my machine and projects with tools to work on. I have done all the blocks for a Lucky Stars quilt and I need to square them up to 15 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches and of course I did not bring a ruler big enough. I have a 9 1/2 square one and the 6 by 12 size. Can I do it with what I have thanks.

You could fold the block in half, using the center of the block as the center of the fold, and trim the outside edges together that way. You'll have to fold it both directions. That's how I do it when I have a small ruler and a large piece. It comes out OK, though sometimes not perfect.

You can if you VERY carefully fold each block in half and then half again, press the block to help hold it folded. Then take your 9 1/2 inch square ruler, lay it so the 7 3/4 inch line is on the folded edges and trim. When you unfold the block it should measure 15 1/2 inches square. You may want to try this out on a scrap before you actually cut one of your "good" blocks.
