I just got a new Elna, and I am noticing that my fabric is having hard time sewing straight unless i really hold it tight. Does needle size do this? Or the thread is not good?
anyone else have this problem?

Is your presser foot on correctly? Mine can look ok, but not be seated properly before I tighten the screw. I put the foot on and then barely tighten it, then I lower the presser foot and finish tightening it up. This way I know it is on so that it helps feed the fabric in properly

i had a 90/14 needle in, and my pressure was on 3, soI adjusted the needle to a 80/12 and change pressure to 2.5. it seems to help a bit. I was also using "cheaper" hancocks fabric, That could have also been the problem. It was very thin.

Silky fabrics can "wiggle", but when piecing quilting cottons they should feed evenly with very little help from you.
