How would you put these together?
Once a month I stop at an LQS 60 miles away and go through their "scraps trunk" and pay per pound. Recently when I got home with a grouping of these scraps and started putting them away, I noticed how well they complemented each other and were in an unexpected color combo. They include a star fabric, a large floral, a viney fabric, a small stripe. Would you make string blocks, or would you combine them with a solid and make HSTs for pinwheels or broken dishes pattern, just HSTs, etc.? There is not a lot of any one fabric and I can certainly fill in from my stash. THX for any ideas!

I think combining them with a complementary solid would be great. And if you have others fabrics from your stash that will play well with them, that solid would pull them all together. A nine patch might work well, or perphap make a lot of half-square triangles and combine into carpenter's star. Or maybe evening star blocks with the large floral as the center of the star and the others as the star points (either half square triangles or flying geese). You could join with sashing to further pull it all together.

How lucky you were to find all that fabric that goes well together. I wouldn't do a string quilt. Use your scraps for that. Find a nice pattern and use these with a solid or two.
