I really like this pattern and would like to try and make it. I did see a tutorial on YouTube by Jenny Doan using a template for it, but it looked very intricate and time consuming. Is there a simpler way of making it? Also, what is this pattern called?

I can't remember the name of it. There are 41 pages of her tutorials. Have fun! https://www.missouriquiltco.com/pages/tutorials?page=1

Is it twist and shout? If so I started one years ago and I was so screwed up and frustrated I gave up. My brain just doesn't "click" with those types of patterns. And of course I really love them! Bargello is another that boggles my brain. And they are my second favorite!

Yes, as Tartan wrote, it’s Whirligig and here’s a link to free instructions if you don’t want to buy the tool.

The "trick" on the Twister is to NOT get the design wall mixed up! Lay it out and work from there or you will spend too much time getting it sorted out again. (Guess how I know?) They are a lot of fun though--provided the pieces stay in order
