I don't sell items, so don't know how these would sell. I just know that my giftees really loved them http://www.needleandspatula.com/2011...-tutorial.html

Maybe I don't understand "juried" but why would a fundraiser for a town, have juried items? (I think "judged" when I hear juried)
4000 doesn't seem like a big crowd.

Craft shows have not been doing very well in our area. The best items that seem to sell are jewelry, soap, baked goods etc. If it's before Christmas think of cute inexpensive items that will make good stocking stuffers and quick gift exchange items. Good Luck!

I've never sold at one but have been to many. People seem to gather a lot around baby (gift) items and pet items.

Lindy2 ... Am I on the same wavelength as you? If so, I'm surprised you haven't had to make that decision as to what you are going to be selling before being accepted. Previous vendors should be able to give you a good idea as to what might be saleable. Another thing you might want to inquire ... what is the price-point that sells at that show? Some shows, they know that anything up to $x will sell like hot cakes ... and beyond will not! And similarly, previous vendors will know items that would never sell, no matter the price!
Good Luck!

Think of the impulse buy! End of year teacher gifts should sell well, My best selling items were small signs with silly sayings, that sold for 2.95, made on whatever cheap wood I could get or blanks I bought wholesale. You make your money by mass producing these, saving time by writing with a sharpie for lettering, and spray painting the base colors...ex: Mothers of teenagers know why animals eat their young...

There is an expectation with most juried shows that you will be a bit more on the arty side and have a good variety of goods at various price points. I assume you have attended the show and have a good feel for the expectations.
When is the show? , the reason I ask is that shows in November tend to do better than Dec shows ,as some of the Christmas shopping has all ready been done.
Although your first thought might be to focus on Christmas and Holiday themed goods.... from my experience only 10 - 15 percent of your inventory should be Christmas themed. People are more practical these days and want items good for more than a few weeks of use. A few exceptions can be noted , ornaments and quilted coat pins. There are others but can think of them right this moment.
Cutsie type items sell limitedly. Elegant always has a market.. particulary at the holidays so pick your fabrics carefully. Avoid making what everyone else is making .. the only thing left to sell your goods is PRICE!
I can tell you that from my experience, and I have done very well even in the down economy, by focusing on exquiste fabrics , excellent construction and unique designs.

I have been to a juried show with my items for several years and then the next year they wouldn't accept my items. Maybe had a different juror , don't know what the reason was. You have to tell them or take pictures and show what you have before they will accept you.

yes its a juried show like you describe im going to be showing what i have next week but since im part of the art center that is putting on the show and one off the judges has already seen my work and said she liked it im pretty sure off getting in. that said anything can happen. im planning to have purses, table runners some baby things, quilts bonnets, possibly baby carirriers. im also making small (8/11) wall hangings and cards. im going to try to have most things accept purses and quilts under $25 since other venders i talked to from last year said almost everything they had under that price sold and most things over 40-50 were a hard sell.
