If you had the choice, what would you choose (fabric question)

I'm the kind of quilter that MUST wash my fabric before I do anything with it (other than touch it and smile a lot). So for me the second choice would be what I would take. I could do so much more with it, and I would also be so much happier with my finished product (because it would be usable). That's just me, good luck.

I have a terrible weakness for fat quarter bundles, if I really love the fabric line. I'm trying to get away from buying bundles because it ties up so much of my budget, but I find them so hard to resist. I just love having a piece of the entire fabric line.

Interesting topic. But, since I have really stopped buying fat quarters I am sure that I would go for the yardage because it is so much more versatile. One person, in an comment, said she would like the fat quarters and make a scrappy quilt-but i wonder if that would really qualify as "scrappy" since it is intentionally made from a single line of fabric rather than being coordinated from a large variety of usable scraps of other projects. I am sure it would be lovely and an interesting approach. I hope she posts a picture.

I love scrappy quilts (with a passion) but I would still pick yardage. I just don't really like fat quarters very much; the size just seems awkward to me. I buy a lot of half-yard fabric pieces, that's my version of a fat quarter. That way if I decide to do a big block quilt I can get at least three 12" squares out of my piece of fabric, plus some nice sized scraps.
