I'm soooo excited!!!

Recently, I have been searching for patterns for babies. I want to make baby things to take to our local hospital to give to new mothers who don't have anything for their newborns. So, I made a pattern for burp cloths(4) and small bibs(4), and (2) crib size quilts. These are all simple in design, so that I can make as many as I can, in the time that I have. Also, I made a small quilt (18"sq.) to donate to their nursery. Tomorrow, I am taking them in to the hospital, will see what the nurse/s think, and hopefully come back home and make some more!!!

Although I am RN Hospice director now (and LOVE it), I work at the hospital to fill in now and then. And especially when there is a new baby. The newborn gets his own nurse for the first hour or two. And that's a pretty fun job! Anyway, we have organizations that bring the huge size of ziploc (about twice the size of a gallon size) with a blanket from flannel, matching burp cloth, lotion, shampoo for every new mom. Our hospital is small, about 85-100 births a year at most, but I know that the new moms really appreciate it.
Sometimes a womans group bring in a dozen blankets or quilts to give to moms who need them, and you should see the look on the new mom's face! It's a great service to make them, so I congratulate anyone who does it.

Oh yes, and folks bring in little hats too. That is the BEST! I guess you have all seen those round looms that you can make them with, pretty quick, but we love to dress up those babies with a colorful hat!
