I m going to town tomorrow and i m starting a quilt which i am aiming the squares(doing a 9 patch and railway) to be 6,5 i think sooo, is that right for 9 patch and railway?
anyway i ned u to help me pick one kind of ruler i can use to both of those until i can afford more rulers and order from ebay as that is sooo much cheaper, here in norway i ll prob end up using 25 to 30 dollars on one 6 by 12 or 24 ruler.
also i have an older janome( for now and umtil it dies but i really have a singer which is in repairs and dunno if i am getting it back)
but if u could write down and show me pictures of the feet which is the most important ones i ll be really greatful.
i know things are different from brand to brand etc but atleast i have something to go after kinda.
thanks girls

6 inch x 24 inch. My favourite make is Omnigrid, comes with both black and yellow markings, so is easy to see on almost every fabric. It's wide enough to cut fabric when it is only folded once, whereas a 12 inch ruler would need the fabric to be folded twice.

My favorite "little" ruler is the Omnigrid 4 x 8 inch ruler with 1/8 inch markings.
Do you work in metric or inches?
There is another one out that is 8 1/2 x 24 1/2 inches by Creative Grids (TM) - that's supposed to be Non-Slip.
It does have more slip resistance than my other rulers. The only thing about it is, I need to really pay attention to the lines/markings because it's different than the other ones I have.

I only have 2 rulers..one is the 6 x 24in that many people have already mentioned. i also have a 6 x 6in. These are the two rulers i first bought when I started quilting a couple of years ago and find them very useful and so far havent needed another ruler...I have been thinking about getting a bigger square one maybe a 12 x 12 but will need to look into that one before spending my money as things are very expensive over here as well.
The foot I seem to use the most is the 1/4 in foot with the guide and will probably use the darning foot once I start stippling and free machine quilting more ( have to work up the courage )
I also have a walking foot which i also use regularly..
have fun shopping...
