Iron madness!
These might be dumb questions, but here goes. I have a Shark iron that I've had for probably the past 8 years. It just doesn't seem to iron very hot anymore. Do irons loose their power? I do use best press when ironing, is there something I should use to clean the plate. Do I need a new iron?

I have shark that is probably 5 or 6 years old and I am thinking that it does not stay hot the way it used to, maybe they are just worn out. I have no idea what type of iron I would buy if I were going to replace it.

I just replaced mine for same reason. I bought a dry iron (with no steam holes) from Vermont Country Store for $29.00 I hated the little dots the steam iron left on my fabric, whether I used steam or not. Like it much better.

When my iron quit heating, it was something called a thermistor, or thermal fuse, that went bad. My son took it apart, found the faulty part, we ordered replacement parts (got a bag of 5 thermistors for $5), husband reassembled it, and my iron works good as new. MUCH better than buying a whole new iron.
