Joining half hexagons with strips..... at the end of my rope!
Can anyone please help a quilting newbie? I am making the Jazz Hands quilt from Material Obsession. It calls for half hexagons to be joined to a strip which is cut longer than needed then trimmed when the row is complete. Attaching the strip to the first hexagon was not problem but making sure the next hexagon lines up with the first is making me absolutely batty and the instructions are not good on how to do this. I know it can not be hard but can not figure it out TO SAVE MY LIFE. Ugh~can anyone point me in the right direction a diagram or video would be wonderful! Many thanks! Susan

I think what you need to do is this. After you sew the strip to the first half hexagon and iron, turn it over to the wrong side. Take a pencil and ruler and extend the lines of the hexagon across the sashing strip. To join the next half hexagon, match up its raw edges to the pencil lines. (Pin before sewing.)

I haven't made that quilt yet, but I have both the Material Obsessions and Material Obsessions 2 books. I have made several quilts from them. I love them and I am sure you will love yours too. Welcome to QB.
