I have had several ladies ask me about Kennedy and what kind of quilt did we want. Any would be appreciated but I did get a message from her mom and she said this picture was taken in front of this quilt called HOPE and kennedy said she would like to have one. I just thought any type of small are large quilt would be a great way for her to raise money for her cause. If you would like to know more about kennedy she has a web site that tells all about her problems and what she and her mother have gone thru she is 10 and has had 10 surgeries. ANY help and all prayers for her will be appreciated. Thanks Teresa

She is such a sweet girl and her mom is a real trooper. I hope you get lots of responses to your call for help.
Are these ladies you refer to in your original post from this board? Is there a community quilt already in the works, and if so, who is doing it? Or are people making individual quilts to donate?

I have a couple of ladies that said they would make a small quilt for her. I posted that she liked this one that a group did called quilt of hope. She said she would like one like it. I wanted to see if I could maybe get some people to make a block like the one in the picture and then I could find someone to quilt it for her. I am not sure about how to go about doing this I guess it would be similar to the block exchange except everyone could send the block to me and I would find someone to make the quilt and I would pay for that to be done. Do you have any suggestions about how to get people to contribute a small quilt and if not a quilt a block with the hand in it? Thanks for any help and suggestions about how to go about doing this. Teresa

Oh, now I get it.
Teresa, there is a similar project to benefit breast cancer and I'm including the link so you can read the requirements:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/18367.page
Any quilter who wants to participate would need to know:
How large each square needs to be. The measurement is usually given as unfinished. (From that, 1/2 inch is subtracted for a finished square.)
What color you would prefer. In the example the background and pattern preference needs to be specified.
Sounds like Kennedy likes the handprints of hope.
If there is anything special to do (or not to do) should be added here.
What is the time frame? Must be received no later than [date].
Will you be the contact person? Then anyone who wants to contribute would get your address via a pm (personal message).
May I suggest that you talk to your quilting friends to get the plan together and that everyone is on board. Once you have a plan, I'd suggest that you post all the details and see what develops.
I think it is sweet that you are spreading your beginner quilting wings to help your community.

Thanks for the information I have read over it and I have contacted Ginger but she has had a busy weekend with the festival and it seems Kennedy has had some medical problems today so it will probably be tomorrow are the next day before I hear from her. I will get all the details worked out and then I will post so maybe everyone will be as willing to help Kennedy as they have been for the cancer quilt. Thanks again and as soon as I get everything worked out I will put up the bulletin for the blocks that Kennedy would like.

I am still gathering information to get the top put together and quilted before I post to see if anyone would be interested in making a Hand Block for Kennedys quilt. You all have been kind and I have had a few pm about doing this for her. I will keep everyone posted with the information as I am still checking out the prospects of getting someone to put this top together if we do the hands of hope block for her. Thanks again Teresa

Thanks a million for the response. I posted a note on the new logo for kennedys website the hand of hope and tonight I will try to make up a pattern so I will know what to ask for when I post for blocks to be made. I will keep in touch and I am open for suggestions.
