Left-Handed Martelli Rotary Cutter?
While I am recovering from my injury to my right shoulder,
I was thinking of maybe buying a left-handed Martelli rotary cutter.
Is that a good idea or bad idea?
I don’t want to waste money, but I so want to get back to quilting.
Thank you 💕

You would still need to exert pressure with your right hand, to hold the ruler. You might be able to overcome that problem by using weights. But my rotary cutter can be used by left and right handed people. I just have to reverse the blade and screw.
I think it would be more of a dexterity issue. Are you very right handed or do you often do things with your left hand, like stirring a batter, pinning a seam, picking up necessary objects?
You could try out your idea with your current cutter, a ruler and some paper (much cheaper than buying another cutter and using fabric for a test)

Look at quilter's select. They are weighted so make cutting way easier, and they are ambidextrous. I bought one and loved it so much that I bought a second. they are not cheap, but I love them more than any of the others I've used, and I've used a lot including the martinelli one.

Hi 😊 Ginger I would not be able to put any pressure on my right hand. So the weights would probably be the best option to hold a ruler down. I can do some things pretty good with my left hand so far.
Hi 😊 Macybaby I just saw a YouTube video on the quilters select. Yes, it looks like that would be a better rotary for what I need. Thank you so very much!!
