Lesson Learned...

I've done that too, and can totally relate! It hurts like crazy and it bleeds a lot. I sliced into my nail, and it's never been the same since. I will say, I don't mind having a quilter's scar...sort of a badge of honor.
Hope you feel better soon. Colds suck, to be blunt.

I thought of you when I got my tree out today. It was packed away last year in a new box and I had taped it shut. ( lots of tape ) It was nearly impossible to open and I couldn't find my box cutter. I spied my rotary cutter in my table and just for a minute thought about using it. Then I remembered you and your poor thumb and decided just to work the tape loose by hand. Thanks for saving me.

I usually have some sort of a 'nick ' on my left index fingernail....never bled... yet, but have taken off some of my finger print, thank goodness for calluses. Most of my accidents consist of bad fabric cuts, which I have to say are WAY more painful than losing some skin for me.

I was watching the Dr. Oz show just before Thanksgiving and he addressed cuts from knives while preparing for the holiday. One interesting tidbit--if you have a cut that just doesn't quit that slight "ooze", try using a product such as Visine. Visine reduces the bloodshot look in the eye and will help with stopping the "ooze" apparently!
