I never use my laser, because I don't do pantographs. My Innova has a good light, but I added an overhead light bar and also put bendable lights (from Ikea) on the handlebars. That way I can adjust the light in many different ways.

on the rare occasion that I use my 'laser light' stylus I use the one that came with the machine- it came with a *spool pin* that holds it- is adjustable so you can aim it at the correct place on your pattern and follow the pattern as you stitch- regular lights - the machine has a *bed* of LED's that work well- then I use the room over head & if I need more light I have a couple moveable changeable led bars I can place where I need them on the machine

Dunster, I would love to see a picture of the Ikea lights you added. I just came home from new owner classes in StGeorge Utah. EXHAUSTED but happy...I cannot use a light bar because I have a ceiling fan above my machine. (hey, a girl needs to be COOL and needs lights, what can I say!? lol)

My laser light came with my machine but when it broke over the holidays I improvised with a flash light that had a laser light pointer on it duct taped to a massive knitting needle attached to the adjustable laser light holder on my machine. It worked just as well as my factory light. For additional overhead lighting, my DH installed a light bar that has the postionable spotlights in them. Got it at home depot and it only required a few screws to install as it has a cord that goes into the electric socket. DH but some sort of small bracket to hold the cord to the ceiling until it hits the wall, then just runs down the wall.

We don't use a laser as we don't do pantographs. As far as lights, Kevin has rigged up cheap clip-on-type desk lamps with flexible necks to each machine...can point it wherever you need extra light, and we've gotten magnetic dome lights (like you use under cabinets) that we use on the frame itself...really lights up the back side when we want to check on the tension.
