Longarm Thread
#3
I like superior threads. But have used the maxi-lock also. Works great. have had other people on other boards blast me for even suggesting that I use maxi-lock  . I find the maxi-lock to be alot less linty. Plus it is readily available. Some of us who live in remote retail areas, that is a huge plus.

I use ThreadArt thread, cotton machine quilting thread on the cones. The price is great. There is quite a bit of lint from cotton thread, and each cone has a knot or two but at a bit over $5 for a cone it's worth it to me because I quilt a lot. This thread is strong and comes in many colors.
I have talked to longarmers who use serger thread, they say it works fine too but I haven't tried it. I just don't trust the strength of serger thread.

I have been using thread from this site - I saw them at MQX in Providence RI and got a free spool. It is Poly, not expensive, not linty and works in my Voyager 17 beautifully.

I have also use Connecting Thread's "Essential Thread" and it is very nice and my choice for looks but does generate a bit of lint as it is cotton.
I do not use serger thread. Serger thread is designed to be light weight and to have multiple strands used on one seam.

Signature, Sew Fine, and MaxiLock are my favorites. The invisible thread is my least favorite. I have also used my polyester embroidery thread. Don't use rayon, it bleeds and is not strong enough. I like the thread to blend in rather than look heavy. Just MHO. I always use the same type thread in my bobbin, but bought some Bottomline but haven't tried it.
