Looking for solutions for scrappy baby quilt that came out too narrow ...
Hi all, I am working on a scrappy baby quilt for my friend's baby shower, which was made just by sewing strips together, then cutting the sewn strips in the other direction and sewing those strips together. So the quilt is just made up of very uneven squares and rectangles and nothing is really meant to line up, (which means I don't have to line up any seams, yay).
Anyway I kind of mucked up some of my strips so I ended up with a quilt that is too narrow for a baby quilt but plenty long (30x54). so my question is, what is a good way to make this quilt wider? I don't think it should really be any longer so doing a full border doesn't seem like the right answer. Would it look strange to just put a couple of solid strips on either side to make it wider, without having the full border? Or maybe I should actually trim it back to about 50 inches so I can do a full border?
Just looking for suggestions, thanks in advance!

I would put 5" or 6" wide borders on the sides & 1" or 2" narrow borders on the ends. The applique would be great if ya want ta, or maybe a print for a border with a tiny solid between the top & print. Ya have so many options! What ever ya want ta do will be great.
