Presently I am putting together a tshirt quilt (fusing is a yes) and as I go I keep thinking on how I am going to quilt it. For those that have done this I would really like some input on the 'what' you did. Did you quilt over the ironed on club, etc on the front??Or did you go around the words? Any and all input would really be appreciated. My friend said she went thru all of it and I am thinking this might gunk up my needle or dull it but, I am not sure at all. (Or that it would make biiig holes!) Thanks!! Skeat

Great question! My hubby wants me to make him a t-shirt quilt out of all of his Harley t-shirts. Here's a link to the one he wants me to copy:

It looks like the quilting goes right up to the words and then goes around... ?? Hard to see for sure.

Most I have seen have done pantos right over the fronts - it's not distracting and it keeps the batting from shifting. You'll need to do something on the shirts, they're usually too big to quilt that far away.
I did one for a customer that had some sort of hard plastic !@#$ on the fronts of the shirts. I had to do a meander from the front of the machine to keep from hitting that hard plastic and doing unspeakable things to my LA.

Skeat, I dont use any fusible in my Tshirt quilts..
I posted the directions on the board

Ill try to find it,, but if you have already fused them, I cant help.
I quilted in the ditch around each block and then did some quilting on the shirt following the design on the shirt...
Not much help, I know...

I did a quilt with a few t-shirt blocks mixed in. I just did echo/shadow quilting around the main design elements of the shirt. It came out fine. And I used my regular favorite - Warm & Natural batting. My son loved it!! Oh, yes, I did fuse each t-shirt piece. I think it's really necessary to avoid stretching.
