Marshall Dry Goods Batiks?
#1
I am looking at an eBay listing for 5 yards of a "tie dye Batik"
I asked the seller for the brand/manufacturer, and she replied that it said Marshall Dry Goods on the end of the bolt, and nothing else.
Has anyone purchased batiks from them? I normally only purchase batiks by Kaufman, Hoffman, Timeless Treasures, etc. etc.
One bad thing about buying from eBay, is you can't always determine quality.

Thanx for any input you can offer.

I looked at them on Marshall's and there is a nice selection for $4.99/yd. Although I don't know about the quality, they are listed as Quilter's Batiks. If I needed some, I'd give Marshall's a try.

I've bought fabric from MDG and lovedd it, but it was the "good" brands, like Kona, MM, etc. I had never seen any MDG fabric until last week when I got a mystery stash from EQ. There was a panel thad had MDG on the selvage and it was really bad, I thought. The colors were just off and so I washed it, thinking I would use it for string quilts. It faded something awful, and then was REALLY ugly. I'd be leary of buying their brand because of this.

marshalls generally has good fabric, however check to make sure that the batiks are really batiks ie:, real batiks are the same pattern front and back or so my lqs lady says. Also they don't have a great selection at least the last time I was there. We have friends that live in Batesville and go see them two or three times a year . So I stock up on fab when were there. love the prices, and the quality of the fab. but if I'am going to make something special I use batiks from my lqs. good luck.

I have bought the batiks from Marshall's and they are quality fabric. I would put them on the level of the LQS quality. Have had no issues with them. It is worth a road trip to travel to Batesville, AR, it is like being in Fabric Heaven. They also sell by the bundle, have batting, sheeting, backing fabrics, you name it, they have it. Their prices are great, too. My favorite is the $1 tables. Flawed fabric, sometimes small, sometimes big are there and you can buy what you want of each piece.

I haven't been to Marshall Dry Goods, so I only see what is on their website. There hasn't been much to choose from there for a long time, it seems. I was throughly pleased with the fabric I bought from them and for their good service. The panel that I received with their brand on the selvedge happened to be the cheapest looking fabric I had ever seen anywhere. But that doesn't mean it's all bad, it just means I personally won't order their brand on the internet. I would have to see it "in person".

it is a fun place to go and I always come home with a lot.I have had no trouble with any of their fabrics. They are a wholesaler and supply lots of quilt shops. But then I make a lot of Linus quilts (for JDiane) LOL

The piece I was interested in bidding on would just be 'stash' for me. Couldn't resist checking it out because it was such a low starting bid price. Might have to pass on this one
