My new "Old" Morse
#1
My sweet neighbor who lives down the street, surprised me today with a gift of a Morse 3400. She looks like new. There is not a scratch on her. She isn't even dusty. My neighbor's husband bought the machine at a yard sale over fifteen years ago and his wife never used it. I plugged her up, threaded her and she sews like a absolute dream. There were not attachments or manual, but my neighbor thinks she has them and is going to look for me. Does anyone have one of these and can you tell me if it does a plain zig zag? I can get it to straight stitch, blind stitch and buttonhole. Also, do you know how to drop the feed dogs? This sucker weighs 44 pounds. I read they were made in a Toyota factory.

It looks similar to the Morse 4400, so maybe this might help..

Otherwise, at a quick glance, I didn't see anything on Google about a Mose 3400. :(

Sometimes you can find demo's of vintage machines on Youtube. Do a search there. I came up with this one that looks similar to your machine:

Looks like the knob on the base (teardrop shaped knob) is what controls dropping the feed dogs.
The zigzag could simply be the straight-stitch setting with the stitch width set to >0. (Since it has Morse Zig Zag on the logo, it's bound to be able to do a plain zigzag!)
