My turn to ask for help re cutting mat
Oh my, I made a boo-boo yesterday. I was tracing with a black permanent marker onto tissue and my marks bled thru onto my yellow cutting mat. I've tried alcohol, nail polish remover, and bath tile cleaner (which has bleach & oxyclean in it). None of these have worked to get the marks off. Why didn't I use my common sense and put newspaper underneath? We ask, after it's too late. Does anyone have a product suggestion? I mean, I have really "embellished" this fairly new mat...the use isn't compromised, but it just looks so NASTY!!! Thanks for any advice (other than "go stand in the corner") LOL

Other than go stand in the corner .... I will tell you that you should just ignore it!! I am not too sure it will come out but will be curious what others have to say. It is still usable and if it will not come off with all that cleaner - it should not rub off on your fabric. It will however remind you every time you use it not to do it again lol. You could also flip the mat over if it bothers you.

I have had great results getting marker marks off other surfaces using FIT vegetable spray. It was the only thing that took black Sharpie off my fridge door. If your mat is the soft surface, the marker probably has soaked into the mat. Let the FIT spray soak into the marks.

Thank you all for your suggestions...I think the prize goes to eparys suggestion to turn the mat over. I liked the idea of 'connecting the marks to make a picture'---alas, it would then look like a forest of trees. I just remembered! I have a small tube of ink spot remover for clothing somewhere--haven't seen it for a while, but it must be hiding in the laundry rm. Cross my fingers,...and toes.....and eyes.
