Need help with borders/backing please.

I am currently working to finish a quilt that I started about 10 yrs ago. The only thing I have to do is the outside border and then send it out for LAQ. This is my problem...I am going to have to pice the border and the backing. These are out of the same fabric along with the binding. My first question is..how do I cut the fabric?? I have almost 6yds of fabric. DoI cut borders and binding first WOF and use the leftovers to piece for the backing or piece the back first and the cut borders/binding? Question 2..the borders are a solid brown where is the best place to have the seam?? Middle, side?? Question 3..what is the best way to piece the back?? one seam down the middle?? I have never had to do this before as this is the largest quilt I have done. It is defintely an oversized twin. I have another quilt ready to send to the LAQ so I need to get this done this weekend. I know I will get some good advice..I promise to post pictures soon. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is what I do. I cut the borders first the LENGTH of the fabric (less stretch and no seams).. Than cut the binding the length, (less seams) and piece the backing last. I personally don't care if there are seams in my backing.

I would also check with your LA quilter and find out their preference on seaming the back...there could be an extra charge if they have to fiddle with too many seams
Other wise I would also cut off of the lenth of fabric first. If I have to piece borders, I try and stagger them so they are not as noticeable.

As for piecing the back, I usually try not to have one seam down the center. I'll cut the fabric in half (for the center piece) then cut the other half in half and piece it that way (so there would be 3 pieces). It's your quilt, so it's up to you! I have also scrappy pieced the backing with quilt top remnants (larger pieces) or coorindating fabric. Then I don't worry about seaming in the center.
