I just purchased a Janome 6600 and love it - bought it Tuesday - sewed great until last night - needle is stuck and won't move up or down. Anyone else had this problem? I have cleaned, shut machine off etc - roads are bad so can't take machine to LQS about 30 mins away.

So sorry this happened to you with a new machine. How frustrating! This happened to me with another machine, not a Janome. I fixed it myself by removing the housing and finding a pin stuck in the gear. I would suggest you not do anything and take it back the way it is and get another new one or the assurance it was something simple and no damage occurred.

I did call the shop and am planning on taking it in either Friday or Saturday - just hate to be without it now - glad I kept my old machine so I can still sew!!! I have tried everything - just did the drop feed - still no movement. The repairman at the QS thought that maybe something wasn't tightened properly at the factory - hope it is just something simple.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your new 6600. I have that machine and love it! The one time I had that happen to me, it's because I sewed over a pin and it was stuck down in the bobbin casing. I didn't even realize I had sewn over it. It was quite a pain extracting it too. Hope it's something simple and easy to fix.

Just to the left of the little button that has the sissors pict on it is an up and down needle button. Push that, maybe release the needle. I have had this machine for several years and have never had a problem. Please post what they find out at the store. Maybe save someone else if they have a problem.
Thanks

Took my machine back to store today - took about 5 minutes to find the problem. It was somehow connected to the bobbin winder - somehow a piece got stuck and stopped the needle from working???? Anyway, he got it loose, oiled it and it works. Hoping that it won't happen anymore. Thank you to those who responded!!!

Whew! But these are workhorse machines with excellent reputations, so it had to be something fixable. I have a similar Babylock Quest Plus, has a free arm but no autocut. It has revolutionized my sewing in just a few months. I hope you love your 6600 as much as I love my BLQP.
