New Walking foot for viking
Hi, everyone. My walking foot for my viking 500 is on its last leg and I was looking on ebay for a new one and I found one for under $20, but it says that it is not a genuine Husqvarna walking foot. Before I buy, has anyone bought one of these and are they worth it?

I have a Viking 500, everytime I tried a cheaper "no- name" foot it ended up in the trash within a very short period of time. I even tried some feet made for White machines as at the time this model was being produced , Viking was making machines for White..... and no such luck ... they where off by a milimeter or two causing the needle to skim the foot.
FYI - the new Viking Walking foot as a interchangable foot on it so you can have a regular walking foot , or a stitch in the ditch walking foot. The actual foot guides come off the walking part ( if I am expaining this right). They really are a great improvement and have been around now a couple of years.

I would not recommend a walking foot that is not specifically for your machine. The generic ones dont always work. There has been some discussion here on the board about buyinga non-specific walking foot. If my mind remember there were some problems of not working or holding up over a long time. I know the specific brand attachments are more expensive but in the long run they work better and last longer. Then you also have somwhat of a guarantee if something goes wrong.

Believe it or not, when I went to the shop to buy a walking foot for my Brother machine I was told that the Viking walking foot I already had would work. It does, so I wonder if a less expensive Brother walking foot might work for the Viking? Just wondering..................might be worth a look see?

I have both a 500 and D1. The new walking foot for Viking with the interchangable feet is just great. It does fit the 500. I know they are expensive. On Amazon for $89 right now but worth every penny.... The cheaper ones just done work and make too much noise.

I got my interchangable walking foot today and of course had to try it out and it's soooooooooo great. This foot doesn't act or sound like a jackhammer. It sews so smooth and I didn't break one needle. Love it, Love it.
