Oh, I did a bad thing and now I need help...

I was doing fusible applique and did I use fabric in between my iron and the fusible pieces? Oh heck no, cuz I've never had a problem and what could happen anyway?! Well, it happened. I've got that fusible gunk all over the sole of my iron. How the heck did that happen? But now -- how do I get it off?

there are lots of ideas for getting the last few bits off, but for the initial cleaning, warm the iron and run it over a brown paper bag..the rougher the bag the better..the texture of the paper bag helps pull off a lot of the gunk. Just make sure that you move to a clean part of the bag for each swipe of the iron. I've also been successful at using rough toweling rags to wipe across the iron when it's warm...but neither of these takes off all the gunk. Good luck.

Ok, well the paper bag idea didn't really do much, but while the iron was warm, I grabbed an old washcloth rag and rubbed the sole really hard. Took it all off!! Yay!!! Ok, ok, I've learned my lesson
