Ott Light question
I have a Dual Shade LED Floor Lamp with USB Charging Station.
Both lamps have suddenly stopped working, but the charging station has power. Can it be both lights burned out at exactly the same time or is there something else wrong with my lamp?
I wanted to inquire before buying two very expensive light bulbs.
Thanks for any input.

It's possible they both burned out at the same time. It's also possible something went awry in the wiring. Nothing is made to last anymore. I had a desk model Ott light, and I thought the light bulb burned out so I bought a new one. It wasn't the light bulb. No way to fix the base so I just thew it away and got a new one. Luckily I kept my receipt and returned the bulb. I say buy the new bulbs, keep your receipt and if it's not the bulbs then it's something else within the lamp. Does it have a warranty?

Ott lights are well known for ballast failures, Google it. Ott light does not supply replacements so it seems like a built in method to have you buy another. Articles of how to modify and install third party ballasts exist on the Internet but I would not attempt it because I think they are unsafe, especially when performed by someone unfamiliar with electrical parts installation and safety.

I wouldn't want to be without my Ott lamps. I have a floor one near my machine and another beside my handwork chair. I also have a desk one I take to retreats. Mine are probably 20 years old with the original bulbs...... hope I don't jinx mine.

Why can't brands keep the quality in their items? I have one Ott light, a desk fold up one. It is over 25 years old and still working. The new Ott lights are not as quality made as the first ones. The new desk fold up lamp is lightweight and the housing is seems weak. The new bulbs look nothing like the old bulb that is in mine. I bought an extra bulb years ago and I'm so glade I did. At retreats others compare my old Ott lamp to their new ones and are surprised at the difference of quality.

Ott lights only supply bulbs for a limited time after they quit making the lamps. I ran into problems with this on one of my older Ott lights. My husband was able to make the bulb fit (Ott told me it would fit. It didn't) so I got lucky. I bought a Stella lamp that I got a deal on. If it works out long run, I"m buying those from now on. They're pricey but I really like my Stella lamp. Much better than my Ott lights.

I've had trouble with some of them as well. I have a couple that work great after many years and a couple that just stopped working. I thought it was the bulb but it wasn't.
Like you said- they aren't cheap.
