We are passing through Paducha, KY shortly and wonder what is a must see/do. Any pet friendly motels nearby. Will then go on to Nashville area. Any quilting must dos? TIA

ditto to sarge1. while there, take a stroll along the river ... the murals there are terrific, but not quilt related. perhaps non-quilting folks in your party would do that while you shop?

I was just there last weekend - my youngest DD lives there and YES, you must go to Hancocks of Paducah - be sure to go to their back room - all the way to the right. I plunked down a bunch of money this time - orange stickers on bolts are on sale. this is not a "cutsey" little quilt shop - this is a HUGE fabric store. The ladies at the cutting tables are busy cutting orders for their catalog, but you can stop any of them and they will cut your fabric for you. If you have time, the Quilt Museum is fabulous and Eleanor Burns has a store there, right across the street from the Quilt Museum, Quilt in a Day.

I've been to Paducah quilt show many times and the murals have never been a have to see thing for me. I looked at a few of them then got bored. LOL PaperPieces is in Paducah not far from the Quilt Museum. Quilt in a Day has a nice shop but it's only open during the spring and summer that I remember. Handcocks of Paducah is nice but honestly I think over priced for many items. There is a new Holiday Inn Express that opened this fall close to the quilt museum. Everything would be in walking distance from there except Hancocks.

I always hit Hancock’s. They have huge tables of remnants in the front of the store that are great. Also there are sales everywhere in the store. The quilts hanging from the ceilings are from patterns sold in the store and are very reasonable.

Near Nashville is Stitcher's Garden (209 S. Royal Oaks Blvd., Franklin 615 790 0603). A totally disorganized store with so much fabric that you can barely move, but they know what they have, and it's a tremendous selection.
