painting? on fabric
#1
I am making a quilt for my mother and one for my mother in law. Both quilts are basically identical with maybe the backs being personalized in some way. Anyway the top will be 9 blocks the 4 corners will be pieced blocks the middle block will be a picture of my 4 kids the other 4 blocks I would like to have them be white and have the kids do footprints and handprints on them. Any suggestions on what to use to do the handprints and footprints? I want the quilt to be able to be used so it would have to be durable. Thanks in advance Joe
this is the block for the corners

You can easily quilt through fabric paints. They change the hand of the fabric very little. Use opaque colors on dark fabrics and either opaque or transparent on light colored fabrics. Be sure and do a sample first. There is a wealth of information online about fabric painting and the paints are quite easy to find locally. Have fun!

I use regular acrylic paint with fabric medium because there are more color choices. I will change my avatar to the quilt that was painted by our local chapter. All of it is done with acrylic paint and fabric medium.

visit Dharma Trading Company. they sell all kinds of dyes, inks, and fabric paints, and offer a huge amount of information on their site and in their catalog. they are a great company to do business with and are very reasonably priced with good shipping options.
