I have been lurking awhile now and decided to throw myself right in.
My oldest dd (11) wants me to make her a quilt to take with her to Dr. visits and MRI's. When asked what color I am supposed to use, she replied "all of them". I am thinking blocks of color in rainbow shades or stacks? I am pretty good at sewing, but have never tried a quilt.
Any ideas on what would be the best pattern? And probably stitch in the ditch-ing.
thanks

I just finished 3 quilts for my grandchildren, very easy with big blocks and used fleece on the back of two, so they are very cuddly. Also on the fleece ones I did not have to use batting. Here are the pictures. The 1st two are called warm wish's very easy, the pet's are something I just threw together with no pattern.
This one also has fleece on the back. These all could be stitched in the ditch. I used some decorative stitches.

This one for my grandson, fleece backed was really easy to quilt, just made longer stitches.

This one has monkeys with flannel on the back. The colors from this one was dictated from the monkeys.

Warm wishes would be a fun and easy quilt to make for your DD. There are many fabrics with bright colors for the squares and you could use coordinating fabrics for the pieced striped blocks...Fleece for the backing is also available in all colors now...and going into winter there is a large variety of it, too. Would she like a hand in picking out her fabrics?

I think this zig zag quilt could look good in bright bold colors.

Hi and Welcome from Northern Indiana ! I would think like a nine patch that you could use any amount of colors . Do you have a Joanns close by ? If so they have their fat quarters on sale for .99 often. that way she could go with you to pick out all the colors and make it a rainbow
