PFAFF quilt expression 4.0
#1
Hi to all,
I am considering purchasing the Pfaff quilt expression 4.0. I have a pfaff 2044 now, but am thinking of going to this new model. Does anyone have a 4.0 quilt expression. Have you had any problems??? is there anything that you dislike in this machine. Being that this machine retails for almost 3K, I want to make darn sure that this is truly the machine I want. I understand it have a top load bobbin that may cause some problems Any information in regards to this machine model would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Karen

I considered getting this machine a little while ago when I got a great offer for a 5058. I read A LOT of reviews on line on both machines and the Expressions users had quite a few complaints. If I remember correctly, everyone complained about the bumpy transition from the table to the sewing area and that it had a tendency to suck the fabric into the feed dogs. Now they may have fixed this problem, but it's worth checking out.
My final decision was to get the closeout model - just could not beat the deal.
Happy shopping.

I have the QE 4.0 and the only thing I don't like about it is when I use the 1/4 inch foot the fabric wont feed right, so I just use the regular foot and move the needle to get my 1/4 inch. I only make quilts so mostly use just the straight stitch and machine quilt. I do like the drop in bobbin and the low bobbin alarm.

I am very dedicated to the Pfaff line of sewing machines and currently own a Pfaff Expression 2.0, before that a Pfaff 2026. I love the fact that many of the extras (feet) are interchangable, the new dual lighting is very helpful, the extended throat area allows me to work on my larger projects with ease and the 9mm width of the varied stitches adds a lot to my creativity. I'm also envious that you could be getting the 4.0. I've worked with many machines, helped get a few friends out of a jam with their machines while on retreats or attending classes and find all of the Pfaff's I had over the years prove to be real work horses. I've never had a major problem with any of my Pfaffs (knock on wood) only the standard yearly cleaning at my local service center. Hope you get it and keep us posted - I just may have to put it on my Christmas wish list.
