Please help me on this quilt
I'm making a quilt for someone who's father is ill, so it's a prayer/ charity quilt. She wanted something "outdoorsy" and I had these duck panels in my stash. But I'm having a devil of a time deciding on cornerstones. These seem so light, but have blue, rust, and green in them. There isn't any green in the pictures, but "there should be". At any rate, are these too light? I will use the rust in the sashing for the border. Or perhaps someone has another idea for cornerstones? I do have a solid grey that is similar to the surround on the ducks, but it seemed even lighter.
I wish I'd used a narrower black and wider rust in the sashing, but I'm not going to re-do them.

I had planned on using the rust for the border and thought that might be too much. What about picking up the red in the ducks? Ack! I hate picking colours.

I suggest you make a 9 patch like Prism99 described and audition it as a cornerstone. I made a quilt once that way and it turned out stunning. Here is a sample:

I'm thinking that they are not too light, but may be busy. Do you have something that would go, but could be a blender like the little strips? You do not want to draw attention away from the wonderful little duck panels.
