Putting Sashiko in a quilt?
#1
Hi Everyone!
I have a question I am hoping some one will know the answer to.
I have been working on an Asian inspired quilt top for my husband and I want to add some Sashiko to it. It will be the added finish that I need.
My question is, do I do the Sashiko on just the quilt top OR do I use it to quilt the quilt....some of the areas are a bit larger so I would think it would need quilting of some type.
Just looking for some ideas and input!!
Thank you so much for any advice :D

yes and that is what I am planning on as it will only be in a few places on the quilt, but do I do the sashiko on the quilt top only or can you do it through all layers of the quilt?
Just wondering what is the best...if it is through all of the layers then it will show on the back which I am fine with if it is neat.
I have looked a bit on the internet and have not found much info so I thought maybe someone here has more experience they can share :)
Thank you for such a quick reply :)

Thank you so much everyone :)
This was what I had thought of first, but then was questioning it!
Tomorrow, I am going to baste and start quilting some areas, and then add the Sashiko!
It will be so nice to have this project finished...has been awhile in the making!!
I will post pictures when it is all finished :)

JMO but if I was going to go to the time and trouble to do Shashiko (which I've done but didn't know the name of it) on a quilt I'd want the design to show on both sides. Which it does on the one I did. Besides, I wouldn't want the other quilting detracting from it. I think that to do it then add other quilting would look odd, too much---but maybe not.
