Question about relaxing batting before use
#1
Do you all leave your batting laid out flat for a day or so before use to relax the creases? Or do you use it straight out of the package? And is there a noticable difference either way? Thanks!

I do let it relax if I use packaged batting. The batting doesn't get absulutely flat, but the folds do get less pronounced. Our climate here is pretty dry, so if I'm in a hurry, I throw the batt into the dryer on the fluff setting for a few minutes.

I wish that I would think to lay mine out, because I would guess that it would lay better, when I am sandwiching it. I just use it straight from the bag, and pin like crazy. It helps if I have someone to help stretch it, also.
I will keep an eye on this question, and maybe I will change my bad habit.

If I think about it soon enough I like to lay the batting out flat on our guest room bed. I don't always think that far in advance, so do give it a toss in the dryer on low or air setting for a couple of minutes and that usually relaxes it enough. Cotton may need a spritz of water before going in the dryer to make it behave.
