Quilt shops in Gulfport, MS
#1
Hi all! I am getting ready to take a fun trip! I am goign to fly from home (MT) to Indianapolis where mom will pick me up at the airport. We will drive from there to my sister's (TN) and spend the night. The next morning the three of us will drive to Gulfport where my son is stationed!!! On the way, there will be a few pitstops at a few quilt shops (we all three quilt). We will be staying with my son from about Thursday till Monday or Tuesday.
So, I need info on any good quilt shops in the area. I have done a google search and found a bunch, but was wondering if there are any that anyone recommends as a "you don't want to miss this one" shop! We plan on quilt-shopping on Friday and Monday while he is at work. During the weekend while he is home we will hit some antique shops, flea markets and the beach.
We used to live down there when I was about10, but none of us have been back since then so I am sure it will all be a new discovery!

I live in Oregon so I can't help you any. But I do hope that you have a good time with your son. Please shake his hand for me and tell him Thank You for serving our country. (my husband is disabled veteran he served in the army). Have loads and loads of fun. And if you don't eat out on your trip and take "box lunches" that means you will have more money for fabric LOLOLOL

There is a shop on Hwy 49 on the north side of Gulfport. It is called Coast Sew and Vac. They are VERY nice. Not a ton of fabric but so nice. If you are coming down I-55 you can stop in Jackson at the Bernina store. They have a lot of fabrics. I also know of a store in Ocean Springs. I assume your son is either at the Sea Bee base or Keisler. PM me and I'd be happy to tell you all the stores from Jackson to stores around on the coast. I live in Jackson so know the stores here, lived in Hattiesburg (south of Jackson) and my in-laws live on the coast so I have visited most of the fabric stores from Jackson south.

I don't know which way you are coming from Tn but if you come down Hwy 61 we have new shop in Cleveland, Ms that is great. You may be coming down 55 and we would be out of the way. Good luck and have a great trip!

This is the official web site for the Mississippi Quilt Association. There you will find a list of quilt shops in Mississippi.

Janet's Quilting Bee is on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs. If you are coming from Biloxi, take the first street off the Ocean Springs Bridge to the right and at the stop sign, go to the left. It is a little ways up Porter on the left. There is a Hobby Lobby and a Hancock Fabrics off Pass Road in Biloxi--in the same shopping strip with Harbor Freight.
