quilthanger
Has anyone used the hangitdangit quilthanger? It uses one nail with a magnet. I am trying to find something to hang quilts with the least amount of nails. Just built a new house and am very hesitant to "mar" the walls.

I haven't used it, to pricey for me. I used 2 clear heavy duty command hooks and a pretty curtain rod to hang mine. The hooks are up near the ceiling and you can barely see them. If your quilt is heavy, use one hook in the middle and make a sleeve with a space in the center.

I agree with Tartan, The Command hook packaging will give you an idea of how much weight the hook will hold. Weigh your quilt AND the rod. You may need one (or two) additional hooks in the middle. Just split your sleeve so the dowel can be placed over the hooks in the middle.

Have a look at this method:

You attach a flat magnet to the wall with Command strips. Then you use a curtain rod in your sleeve. I have my design wall attached with this method. No nails at all...I was able to do a bigger area with 2 magnets and my own curtain rods.

I actually have one of my design walls hung with this...with a bit of support on each end. (I was greedy for more design wall room, but didn't want to purchase a 2nd magnet!)Here is a picture of the whole design wall, and one of a close up of how the magnet looks with the Command strips. Its been awhile since I put this up, but I think I got a longer curtain rod. I just picked up the size I needed at WalMart or Target. If I had it to do over again, I think I would have gotten 2 magnets and spaced them apart a bit to span the gap with the curtain rod. Hope this helps!
