Quilting on a sewing machine
#1
I recently quilted my largest project so far, the Pumpkin Stack, and I used the same machine to do all the work and all the quilting. I have other machines, and I never thought about using one of them to quilt it on because my main machine is my Brother SE-270D sewing/embroidery machine.
I had a heck of a time with this quilt from the beginning, but quilting that sucker was like wrestling with an alligator.
After all was done (I still need to do binding), I decided to look at some of my other machines, and OF COURSE! I see something that would've been helpful. MUCH MORE SPACE! Just look! I'm laughing at myself.

My first machine ever, bought in 2003 (L) and my Sewing/Embroidery machine from Christmas 2007(R)

The big ones always feel like your wrestling an alligator. LOL     No matter what size throat your machine has. It's good you can laugh at yourself. You have a much better time in life than those who don't. :D :D :D

I have the brother xl2600i and it looks like your machine with the rounded throat area. I can wrestle quilts around in it OK. BUT who's idea was it to put the foot lifter lever thingy in the spot where it is on these machines? I find that it gets in my way more than the roundness of the throat itself!

I just went and looked at my 3 machines...sitting off by themselves I never noticed that there is a big difference in the smaller size of one of them    I am glad that you said something...it would not have been fun using that machine!!

I haven't taken out the Singers I have to compare...without looking, it seems they are bigger than the Brothers. Now, the old treadle I have has a ton of space, but it is not in current working condition.
