rag quilt snipping advice please

scissors with a spring help a lot. JoAnn's should carry them. Fiscars makes one I believe. regular scissors can of course be used but they are just a bit more tiring to your hand. have fun and take breaks if necessary.

Heritage Spring Loaded Rag Quilting Snips are the best I've used. My hand does not get tired and I can start and finish a big rag snipping in one sitting. Fiskars spring loaded snips do not come close to being the quality and ease of use as these are. They are worth it if you only make one rag quilt.

The spring loaded snippers are likely a good idea if rag quilts will be a regular thing. If you are going to just make a couple and move on, I'd use my regular scissors. You can always cut a few and rest if it's hard on your hands.

I rarely use regular scissors. My RA makes them extremely hard to hold and the bumps on my joints get caught in the finger loops. I always rotary cut fabric and use the Fiskars for anything else that needs to be cut or snipped. There are a lot of other uses for the spring-loaded scissors in addition to clipping for rag quilts. I've not used the Heritage, but I may look for them.
