Retayn in a front loader?
Hello, All~ I am very near finishing my first quilt, and I am away from home. When I wash this quilt, it will be in my SIL's front loaer. Can I still use Retayn? And should I throw in some Color Catchers too?
Thanks so much for the help. Pictures soon.

You should use Synthrapol on a finished quilt, not Retayne. Retayne will set any loose dye in the whole quilt, not just in the fabrics that are bleeding, and that is not what you want. Neither product works well in a front loader. Congratulations on finishing your first quilt! Post a picture so we can all admire it.

Becareful which Synthrapol you purchase for use in a front loader. There are many different formulations of Synthrapol. The most common is Synthrapol SP which is what is most commonly used. However for HE and Front Loaders get Synthrapol LF. You can find it here:

And here (Dharma Trading lists both SP & LF on this page so pick the correct one):

If you are in the Syracuse, NY area, Calico Gals is a fantastic quilt shop in East Syracuse and they may be able to tell you where to get it around there. I also recommend a trip to the shop. I love going there when I travel from the east coast to Michigan
