Need info on how some of you repair old quilts..I bought a well worn quilt..probably made early 30's..I have no problem with removing torn material out..but how do I duplicate the weight and type of batting, looks like old cotton..don't want this to be museum quality repairs, but do want to make this old "gal" look a bit better..any ideas will be appreciated.

See if you can find a book called "Quilt Restoration: A Practical Guide" - Paperback (Oct. 1994) by Camille Dalphond Cognac, perhaps at your library. At Amazon it's $49 used! Also, perhaps your local guild has a copy.
A thin cotton batting like Quilters Dream Cotton Request would be a good batting choice.
