I'd give it a try on one ruler before applying it to others. I found sand paper dots too "grabby" - I like a little slide when I'm moving my ruler along, but want it to stay put when I press down for cutting.
My preference is Grace Co. True Grips. There are only 15 on a sheet, but I also use the little circle from the inside of the dots on smaller rulers.
