Selvidge quilt
I would like to try my hand at making a selvedge quilt seen few and think it might be fun. Questions come up in my mind about how wide should you cut the pieces and since the print is so close to the edge seems the seam allowance has to be very small. Could you wonderful ladies give me information on how to start. Do you leave the long strips as is and just sew together or cut to size of block you want to make first? Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is a sewing tutorial of sewing with selvages.

Might get some pattern ideas here:

They suggest you cut 1"-2" with the selvedge so you can get a bit of color in there... but you don't have to. You can use just the selvedges. Lay one down and then lay another one overlapping it a bit, the finished edge covering the raw edge of the one below. Then sew close to the finished edge. Cover your piece that way, working from edge to edge, always covering a cut edge with a finished edge. You will have selvedges only (no fabric prints) but that looks cool too.
